70 Candidates Apply for Nepal Cricket Team’s Head Coach Position

Kathmandu – The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has received 70 applications for the vacant head coach position of the Nepali men’s cricket team, which has been unfilled since January 2024.

According to CAN Secretary Paras Khadka, applications have come from various countries, including two former coaches of the national team. However, their names have not been disclosed.

Khadka further mentioned that the shortlisting process is underway, and the new head coach will be appointed before the completion of the PM Cup, which is expected by the third week of March.

“Some renowned and experienced candidates have applied,” Khadka said. “We will bring the selected coach to Nepal before the PM Cup concludes and finalize the contract at that time.”

The head coach position became vacant after CAN decided not to renew the contract of Monty Desai, who had been coaching the Nepali team since January 2024. Shortly after, CAN invited applications for the role.
