Nepal to Face Malaysia in AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers

Kathmandu – Nepal is set to face Malaysia today in the final round of qualifiers for the AFC Asian Cup 2027. The match will take place at Brahim Sultan Stadium in Malaysia, kicking off at 7:45 PM Nepal time.

Nepal enters the match with high morale after defeating Singapore 1–0 last Friday in an international friendly—Nepal’s first victory against Singapore in 36 years. Head coach Matt Ross believes the team is prepared to deliver another strong performance against Malaysia.

In the FIFA rankings, Malaysia stands at 132nd, while Nepal is at 175th. Historically, Nepal has struggled against Malaysia, losing six out of seven encounters, with one match ending in a draw. The last time they met in 2019, Nepal lost 2–0 in an international friendly.

The Asian Cup qualifiers consist of 24 teams divided into six groups. Nepal is in Group F, alongside Malaysia, Vietnam, and Laos. The top team from each group will secure a spot in the Asian Cup.

Although this match is technically Nepal’s home game, it is being played in Malaysia as Dasharath Stadium does not meet international standards.
