Farewell Ceremony Held for Nepali Squad Ahead of ICC T20 World Cup 2026
KATHMANDU – The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) hosted a formal farewell ceremony on Saturday for the national cricket team as they prepare to depart for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
The tournament, which is being co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, is scheduled to take place throughout February and March. The Nepali squad is set to depart for India tomorrow, Sunday, to begin a crucial final phase of preparation.
During the event held in the capital, CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand and Secretary Paras Khadka offered their best wishes to the players and coaching staff. Both officials emphasized the importance of this global stage and expressed confidence in the team’s ability to compete at the highest level.
Before the official tournament begins, the team will participate in several practice matches to acclimate to the conditions. Nepal has been drawn into Group C, where they will face formidable opponents including England, the West Indies, Bangladesh, and Italy.
Nepal is scheduled to play its opening match of the World Cup against England on February 8 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
