Dalai Lama receives Grammy award at India residence

Dharmashala(INDIA)- Exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama on Wednesday (June 3) received the Grammy award at his residence in a special ceremony.

The award was for the spoken-word album, Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and was presented by Indian music maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.

The 68th Grammy Awards, the highest honours in the music industry, were presented at a ceremony in Los Angeles earlier this year, and were hosted by comedian Trevor Noah.

Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, fled into exile in India in 1959 with thousands of Tibetans after a failed uprising against Chinese rule.

Since then, he has advocated a non-violent “Middle Way” approach to seeking autonomy and religious freedom for Tibetans, earning the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts.
