Floodlights Installed at Extratech Ground in Tilottama

Rupendehi- Floodlights have been installed at the Extratech Oval Cricket Stadium in Tilottama, Rupandehi. According to stadium director Binod Kunwar, the installation of five floodlights cost NPR 70 million. This marks the first time floodlights have been installed at any cricket ground in Nepal. Testing of the lights has begun, with the trial period set to last one month.

The ground, located in Purva Darkhaswa of Tilottama-17, was inaugurated on June 12, 2023 (29th Jestha, 2080 BS). It was made playable by February 2024 (Falgun 2080 BS). The stadium hosted the Legends Cup Cricket Tournament on February 28 last year. Additionally, the construction of practice pitches is in its final phase, Kunwar said. He also noted that two four-story buildings, which will house VIP boxes, player boxes, dressing rooms, and media boxes, are nearing completion. “We have brought the necessary sections of the construction to the final stage,” Kunwar stated. According to him, the stadium, which will have a seating capacity of 25,000 spectators, is expected to be completed within five years.

PM Cup to be Held

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is set to organize the Prime Minister Cup (PM Cup) cricket tournament starting March 9 (Falgun 25). The tournament will be held at three different venues outside the Kathmandu Valley, including the Extratech Oval. Alongside Extratech, the competition will also take place at the Deukhuri International Ground in Dang and the Siddhartha Stadium in Rupandehi.
