Indian Army Chief General Dheeraj Seth Honored with Honorary Rank of General of the Nepali Army
KATHMANDU — President Ramchandra Paudel has conferred the honorary rank of General of the Nepali Army on Indian Army Chief General Dheeraj Seth during a special ceremony held at the presidential residence, Sheetal Niwas.
The conferring of the honorary rank highlights a long-standing tradition between Nepal and India dating back to 1950, under which the army chiefs of both neighboring nations are mutually honored with the symbolic rank.
The ceremonial event at Sheetal Niwas was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, Chief of Army Staff General Ashok Raj Sigdel, and high-ranking military officials. Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava was also present to mark the occasion.

General Seth arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday afternoon for a three-day official visit upon the invitation of Chief of Army Staff General Ashok Raj Sigdel.
Following his arrival, the Indian Army Chief paid a courtesy call on General Sigdel at the Army Headquarters (Jangi Adda), where he was presented with a Guard of Honor. Prior to the bilateral meeting, General Seth laid a floral wreath at the Army Pavilion in Tundikhel to pay homage to fallen soldiers and planted a sapling within the Jangi Adda premises.

As part of the visit, General Seth handed over military and medical supplies to the Nepali Army during a formal program held at the headquarters. Army Spokesperson Brigadier General Rajaram Basnet noted that the specific inventory and details of the handed-over military and medical equipment are being finalized.
