Monty Desai Released as Head Coach of Nepal National Cricket Team by CAN
Kathmandu – The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has decided not to renew the contract of Nepal’s national cricket team head coach, Monty Desai.
According to CAN spokesperson Chhumbi Lama, Desai’s two-year contract, signed in 2023, has now expired, and the board has decided not to extend it further.
Under Desai’s coaching, Nepal’s cricket team made a remarkable comeback from a poor run of form, delivering impressive performances. During his tenure, Nepal participated in the Asia Cup for the first time and also qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup after a decade.
Just a few days ago, Desai had conducted a batting clinic to train young Nepali batters.
Acknowledging his contributions to Nepal’s cricketing success, CAN extended its gratitude to Desai for his efforts and achievements.
