Nepal Falls to Bangladesh in Opening Match of ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup
Kathmandu – Nepal faced a defeat in their opening match of the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, losing to Bangladesh by 5 wickets.
Batting first after losing the toss, Nepal was bowled out for just 52 runs in 19.2 overs. Sana Praveen top-scored with 19 runs, while Simana KC contributed 10. Bangladesh’s Jannatul Mauwa claimed two wickets, with Fahomida Choya, Nishita Akter, and Anisa Akter taking one each. Notably, five Nepalese batters were run out, significantly impacting their innings.
In response, Bangladesh chased the target in 13.2 overs, losing 5 wickets. Sadia Akter scored 16 runs, captain Sumaiya Akter made 12, and Afia Ashima remained unbeaten on 9. Nepal’s bowlers Rachana Chaudhary, Riya Sharma, Pooja Mahato, and Simana KC took one wicket each.
Nepal will play their second match against Scotland on Monday, aiming to bounce back in the tournament.
