Nepal Police and Tribhuvan Army to Clash in Jai Trophy Elite Cup Final

  • KATHMANDU: The Nepal Police and Tribhuvan Army cricket teams have advanced to the final of the Jai Trophy Elite Cup, eliminating Bagmati and Madhesh provinces from the competition.

    In a recent match, Nepal Police secured their place in the final by defeating Bagmati with a comfortable chase. Police became the only team to win two matches in the tournament. Similarly, Tribhuvan Army earned their spot in the final with a decisive victory over Madhesh Province.

    In the game against Bagmati, Nepal Police chased down a modest target of 116 runs in the second innings with the loss of five wickets. Amit Shrestha starred for the Police, scoring consecutive half-centuries. Shrestha, who played a superb knock of 79 runs in the first innings, followed it up with a quickfire 56 off 44 balls in the second innings. Kushal Bhurtel also contributed with an explosive 32 off 19 balls.

    Despite efforts from Bagmati’s bowling lineup, with Sandeep Lamichhane taking two wickets and Nandan Yadav, Surya Tamang, and Pratis Ji claiming one wicket each, they failed to put Nepal Police under significant pressure.

    The final match will be held over three days, from January 1 to January 3, in Birganj. Tribhuvan Army earned their spot in the final after defeating Madhesh Province and drawing against Nepal Police in the group stage.

    With two departmental teams in the final, an exciting clash is anticipated as both teams aim to clinch the prestigious Jai Trophy Elite Cup.
