Sri Lanka Clinches ODI Series Victory Against Australia

  • Kathmandu – Sri Lanka has won the One Day International (ODI) series against Australia after securing a 174-run victory in the second match today. The home team had also defeated Australia by 49 runs in the first game of the two-match series.

    Chasing 285 runs, Australia was bowled out for just 107 runs in 24.2 overs. Steve Smith was the top scorer with 29 runs, followed by Josh Inglis (22) and Travis Head (18). No other Australian batsman managed to reach double digits. Sri Lankan bowler Dunith Wellalage took four wickets, while Asitha Fernando and Wanindu Hasaranga claimed three wickets each.

    Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat in Colombo, Sri Lanka posted 284/4. Kusal Mendis starred with a century (101 runs), while Nishan Madushka contributed 51 runs. Captain Charith Asalanka remained unbeaten on 78, and Janith Liyanage scored an unbeaten 32. For Australia, Ben Dwarshuis, Aaron Hardie, Sean Abbott, and Adam Zampa took one wicket each.

    Despite losing the ODI series, Australia had earlier won the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka on this tour.
