Minimum Mobile Recharge Set at NPR 50

  • March 1, 2025

  • Kathmandu – Mobile users in Nepal can no longer recharge their balance for less than NPR 50, as both major telecom service providers have implemented a new minimum top-up limit. Previously, users could recharge as low as NPR 10.

According to Hari Dhakal, spokesperson for Nepal Telecom, banks and payment service providers (PSPs) offering mobile recharge services will now only process payments of NPR 50 or more. While the decision was made on Nepal Telecom’s anniversary, it has officially come into effect from Falgun 15 (February 27).

Dhakal explained that the change was introduced due to frequent small-value top-ups, which increased transaction volume and validity issues. He emphasized that the decision was not driven by financial motives.

Ncell has also enforced the same NPR 50 minimum recharge policy starting today.
