Relief Materials Handed Over to 250 Flood-Affected Families in Rasuwa

RASUWA – Relief materials have been provided to 250 families affected by the devastating floods and landslides triggered by the Bhotekoshi River in Uttargaya Rural Municipality of Rasuwa.

The relief support was arranged at the request of Uttargaya Rural Municipality with financial assistance from LiScha Himalaya e.V. and managed by Ekata Nepal for Sustainable Development. The assistance is intended to support 250 flood- and landslide-affected families, along with 50 postpartum mothers and their infants.

The rural municipality said the request for assistance was made after the disaster caused significant loss of life and property in settlements along the riverbanks, damaging homes and essential infrastructure. The relief materials are aimed at addressing the immediate needs of affected families. The relief packages include essential food items such as rice, lentils, beaten rice (chiura), chickpeas, salt, cooking oil, turmeric, spices, soybean nuggets (maseura), jaggery and other necessities.

The packages also contain household and hygiene items, including cooking utensils, buckets, soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes, sanitary pads, portable solar sets, torchlights, oral rehydration solution (Jeevan Jal), blankets and other daily essentials. Special packages have also been prepared for postpartum mothers and infants.

These include Lactogen infant formula, gowns for postpartum mothers, flannel cloth, ajwain, fenugreek and rice flour, among other essential items, according to Anil Poudel, Project Manager at Ekata Nepal for Sustainable Development. Uttargaya Rural Municipality Chairperson Madhav Prasad Aryal expressed commitment to ensuring that the relief materials reach the affected families in an effective, transparent and equitable manner.
